Health Care Program
Required Veterinary Services
At the Boarder's expense (approximately $400 per year) each horse is required to participate in a health care program that includes an annual Coggins test, standard vaccinations and deworming administered by a local veterinarian selected by MGRF (the "Designated Veterinarian"). Each horse also must receive regular dental examinations (every 6 to 9 months, at approximately $110 per visit) either through the Designated Veterinarian or through an equine dentist selected by the Boarder and reported to MGRF on the Boarding Agreement. All veterinary and dental services are the responsibility of the Boarder and are billed directly by the Designated Veterinarian to the Boarder. The cost for these veterinary services is in addition to Stall and Field Board.
Emergency Veterinary Services
Should our staff feel that medical treatment is needed for a horse, we will make a reasonable effort to contact the Boarder. However, in the event that we are unable to contact a Boarder within a reasonable time, we will contact a licensed veterinarian to provide emergency services. The Boarder will be responsible and billed directly for the costs of any emergency veterinary services (which are not included in Stall and Field Board).
